Panic Town Road

You walk down the road and see a sign that says Panic Town. What kind of name is that you thought? You could see a town in the distance. There seemed to be some lights on so maybe someone could help you with your car, or at least try to tell you exactly where you were. You kept walking down the road and soon you were walking in the middle of the town. There were no cars present, no people on the streets or anything. There was a sudden rush of ice cold air, yet no wind. Above there were crows and ravens in the air seemingly circling the town. The town had this eerie feeling of dread, and hopelessness that you couldn't shake. Whatever was wrong with this whole area must be coming from this town. There was a store open, and perhaps there was someone inside. 

The sign said Nick's Hardware, maybe Nick knows something, anything. You walk inside. The store is empty, except for one person.

Standing behind the counter there was a old bearded man. He just stood motionless staring at you. "Do you know where I am? you ask. "I believe you are in Nick's Hardware." he replied. "Yeah, I know that, but where?" you inquire. "Well let's see now...the sign at the edge of town says Panic Town, so I'm gonna guess that's where you are." he said. "Thanks for all the help." in a smart alec tone you replied. The store keeper suddenly looked a little more at ease. "At least you seem normal, there seems to be a lot of dead things walkin around out there. They're biting people and stuff. I haven't been outside in weeks. I think it's because of that research lab down the road. Oh oh, I think one of those dead creatures followed you here. It's standing on the street. You know they really stink something awful." You turn around and see something truly grotesque. A decrepit human like creature with rotting flesh. You could hear it grunting and snarling outside the store. You decide that you're going to fight this ghastly beast outside on the street, but first you might need some kind of weapon. Lucky for you, you're in a hardware store. Before running out of the store to battle the beast you quickly reach over and pick up a.....
